Tangiaphoa Parish Sheriff deputies arrest five individuals after they allegedly kept an autistic 22-year-old woman locked up in a cage at a residence in Amite.
Sheriff Daniel Edwards says deputies found the victim wandering in the backyard of the home after receiving a complaint that they were keeping a young female locked up in a cage that resembled a dog kennel.
The woman was malnourished and covered with insect bites.Investigators believe that the five people arrested planned to use her as a prostitute.
The young woman was then placed in the care and custody of the Louisiana Department of Heath, Adult/Elderly Protective Services.
Four juveniles were removed from the home and the five people arrested range in ages from 18 to 43.
