The Department of Transportation warns motorists it will close eastbound lanes of I-10 in Jefferson Davis Parish for four days - starting early Saturday morning. DOTD spokeswoman Diedra Druilhet says all eastbound traffic will be forced off at Exit 44 at Kinder, while workers repair a section of the overpass roadway.
Druilhet says the closure will only affect the eastbound lanes, and traffic will be detoured onto US 165, then state Highway 101, then back to I-10. It will begin at 4 am Saturday morning and last through early Wednesday morning. Druilhet says DOTD wouldn't close the Interstate lanes unless it was absolutely necessary. Druilhet says work to pour new concrete in a 10 to 12 foot section of the overpass roadway should only take about four days. She says they delayed the work as long as possible on the aging structure, which was built in the 1960's. There are plans to build a new overpass there in 2017.
