The suspect accused in the shooting death of Sgt. Shawn Anderson with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's office has died. State Police Trooper Bryan Lee says 30-year-old Brandon Wiley was pronounced dead at around 5 PM on Tuesday. He was listed in critical condition after he was injured from the gunfire exchange between him and the fallen deputy. It happened Saturday night at a hair salon as officers spoke with Wiley who was a suspect in a rape.

"They located Mr. Wiley at the Classic Cuts barber shop," said Lee. "During the course of the investigation, an altercation occurred and shots were fired."

According to authorities, Wiley was wanted for questioning in regards to the rape allegations made by a 15-year-old girl. He was remotely booked by EBRSO on the initial charges: first-degree rape, resisting an officer and with tattooing and body piercing of minors.

Wiley's criminal history indicates he has been sentenced to jail three times dating back to 2004 on convictions including attempted first-degree murder and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

Meanwhile, funeral services for Anderson will be Thursday in Baton Rouge.
