Michelle Southern reporting.
A new Food Network series called “Cajun Aces” staring two south Louisiana chefs premiers Saturday night. Husband and wife chefs Cody and Samantha Carroll run Hot Tails in New Roads, and Sac a Lait in New Orleans.
Cody says the cameras follow them around Cajun country, and highlight Louisiana in a huge way.
"We raise our own crawfish, so the first episode is all about crawfish," said Cody. "We go in the ponds, catch crawfish, then we do a crawfish mac and cheese, and a crawfish and mirliton pie."
The couple says say this was one of the fastest green-lit projects ever by their production company, High Noon, to hit the Food Network. Cody says they’ve already seen the first episode entitled, “Crawfish and Mirliton,” and the camera work capturing the Cajun countryside is incredible.
"And they did tons of drone shots, shots of the ponds and the river and all the levees," said Cody. "It's just beautiful."
The first episodes of Cajun Aces airs on Food Network tomorrow night at 7pm; one highlighting crawfish dishes and the other about wild boar. Then next week the other two episodes next week will feature wild turkey and red fish.
Samantha says there is a huge sense around the country of a huge love and fascination for all Louisiana has to offer.
"When people travel to Louisiana and we meet them, they are just so in awe of our state," said Samantha. "Whether it's New Orleans, or Lafayette or a festival."
