"If you really look at these mass shootings and things, most of these people go through background checks. In fact, other than the ones who criminally get their guns, all of them have passed background checks."
The current law states that only federally licensed gun dealers are required to conduct background checks on buyers, but those who sell in informal settings do not have to register as dealers. Zelenka doesn't see this executive order making that much of a difference.
"The only impact I could see is more people will go apply for federal firearms licenses and, therefore, there will be more buying more guns at discounted prices."
Critics say the President is over reaching in issuing this executive order. The order would apply to anyone "in the business" of selling firearms. Zelenka says he's waiting to see how the federal government defines a "gun dealer".
"I think that they're pulling a lot of people in that aren't truly in the business. Personally, I don't think you need to have a storefront to be in the business, but you have to be more than a casual seller."
