A Prarieville man succumbed to his injuries at a hospital after being shot in a Baton Rouge strip mall parking lot, and authorities are searching for the suspects. BRPD Lt. Jonny Dunnam says they were called to the scene after receiving reports that a black SUV had driven through a fence between the parking lot and College Dr. before crashing into a truck in the road.

"When they checked the vehicle they found the victim who had appeared to have been shot and needed medical attention," said Dunnam.

BRPD identified the victim as 27-year-old George Reusch Jr. and, according to friends on Facebook, he leaves behind a fiance and 7-month-old baby.

Dunnam says a motive for the shooting or possible suspects are unknown at this time. He says investigators spoke to several witnesses at the scene.

"They stated that they observed two unknown black male subjects, one heavy set and one thin built, fleeing the scene on foot," Dunnam said.

Anyone with information on this incident is urged to contact police.
