The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says now they are working to determine whether or not the pastor who was gunned down Friday was engaged in a sexual relationship with the wife of the suspect. Sheriff Tony Mancuso says 53-year-old Woodrow Karey had apparently found text messages between his wife and Pastor Ronald Harris last weekend.

"On Wednesday she filed a rape charge on Pastor Harris and then of course on Friday her husband Karey shot and killed the pastor," Mancuso said.

Mancuso says they are working to determine the extent of the victim and suspect's wife's relationship, "If it was a consensual relationship, or was it was rape or did nothing occur at all? That's what we're trying to figure out."

Mancuso says Karey gave deputies some information when he turned himself in right after the incident took place but he is now working with a lawyer. He says Karey's actions were beyond extreme.

"He could have asked for a divorce or he and his wife could have tried counseling," Mancuso said. "From my understanding the text messages are a week old so he had time to cool off in my opinion."
Karey is charged with second degree murder and remains at the Calcasieu Correctional Center on $1 million bond.
