The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office says a Westlake man stole a sheriff deputy's uniform and then impersonated an officer when he stole merchandise from a Wal-Mart in Sulphur. Sheriff's office spokesperson Kim Myers says surveillence video from Wal-Mart clearly shows a man wearing a deputy's uniform walking out of the store with the T-V.

Myers says deputies identified the man as 26-year-old Gary Robertson. Robertson was stopped between Moss Bluff and Westlake for a traffic violation and charged him with theft and impersonation of a police officer.

Myers explains how Robertson got the uniform.

"Robertson is not a deputy, but he's a relative of a CPSO deputy from whom he stole the uniform, unbeknownst to the deputy who confirmed she had a uniform missing."
