State Climatologist: It will feel like fall this week

This past weekend’s cold front has brought even cooler temperatures to Louisiana. State Climatologist Barry Keim says it really feels like fall today.

"Minimum temperatures this morning across the state are in the 50s and 60s and high temperatures are only going to reach the mid 70s." Keim said. "It's going to be a stunningly beautiful day."

Keim says this is just the start to what will be a relief from the above normal temperatures we saw last week.

"The next four to five days, we can expect minimum temperatures to dip just a little bit, probably bottoming out on Wednesday an Thursday, perhaps even dropping as low as the 40s and probably in the 50s in the coastal zone.  Maximum temperatures are going to mostly remain in the 70s", Keim said.

Keim says we will be running a little cooler than normal for this time of year, but it will warm up in time for the weekend before Halloween. Keim says once we turn the corner we will go into a warming trend with temperatures climbing back above normal by the end of the week.
