Governor John Bel Edwards discusses budget problems on first monthly radio call-in show

The governor took calls from Louisianians on Tuesday during his first monthly radio call-in show. Governor John Bel Edwards answered many questions about funding for services for people with disabilities, the TOPS program, and arts programs. Edwards says sadly, these big cuts are needed because of Louisiana's fiscal problems.

"When that deficit is $2 billion whittled down now to $750 million short, those cuts are wide spread and deeper than you want them to be."

Edwards says he's hopeful that any cuts made during the regular session can be reversed during a special session in June, when lawmakers are able to raise additional revenue.

The next Ask the Governor show will be Wednesday, May 18th from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
