A mother was stabbed to death 29 times while pushing her one-year-old son in a stroller in Gretna. That's according to authorities who say the suspect 41-year-old Damone Ussin, and the victim 35-year-old Tarniel Gray had a dating relationship.
Ussin has been arrested for 2nd-degree-murder and Gretna Police Captain Russell Lloyd says the scene created by the vicious act was hard to swallow.
“It was very gruesome, she had been stabbed the autopsy proved 29 times in her upper torso, and head and face area.”
Lloyd says the child was not injured and the little boy was discovered crying next to his deceased mother.
“There was a one-year-old child there, was in a stroller and apparently in the struggle the stroller was knocked over and the child was able to get out and get next to his mother.”
Lloyd says Ussin has an extensive criminal history and shows no sign of confessing.
“He is considered a career criminal, has numerous arrests for narcotics, aggravated battery, a lot of violent crime. He immediately lawyered up. He has been through the system numerous times, he knows what to do.”
