" The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's office has been up here the last few days. Every ride will be inspected prior to opening," Giordano says.
There have been mechanical errors the last two years that resulted in injuries, including a four year old boy who was severely hurt in 2011. Giordano is hoping everyone has a safe time at the fair this year and enjoys some of their interesting food.
"Some of the new foods are deep fried cookie dough on a stick, cookie dough parfait, deep fried taffy and deep fried gummy worms," Giordano says.
Wednesdays are half price at the fair as well as Thursdays are one dollar tickets, parking and rides. Giordano says there are a number of new shows and exhibits that are sure to boost this year's attendance.
"At 7:00 p.m. each night, they will do a fire dive from the 80 foot platform where the gentlemen lights himself on fire and takes an 80 foot fall into the tank," Giordano says.
