State Police are searching for a driver who hit and injured a trooper when his patrol car was stopped at a Baton Rouge intersection. Trooper Bryan Lee says the collision happened at about 3 p.m. yesterday when traffic was stopped on Old Hammond Hwy and the suspect immediately fled the scene.
“What we believe is a red or maroon Chevrolet HHR or Chrysler PT Cruiser, struck the trooper’s vehicle and a second vehicle from behind.”
Lee says the trooper sustained minor injuries and the driver of the second vehicle was unharmed. He says the driver who ran into the trooper’s vehicle, sped off immediately following the crash and was headed westbound on Old Hammond.
“The trooper’s vehicle was disabled and he was not able to pursue that vehicle.”
LSP says the suspect is a man and vehicle should have significant front-end damage. Lee urges anyone with information to contact authorities.
“We work numerous hit and runs on a daily basis and the faster we can close those cases, the better we are for public safety.”
