On Tuesday, LSU rallied back from a 3-0 deficit to beat Mississippi State 8-5. On Wednesday night, LSU led 3-0, but lost to top ranked Florida 4-3.
Jake Slaughter got LSU on the board with a two-run home run that was smashed over the left field wall.
Daniel Cabrera made it 3-0 LSU in the 3rd inning with an RBI single, but the Tigers had just three hits the rest of the way.
The Tigers also could not take advantage of four Florida throwing errors either.
Florida starting pitcher Tommy Mace (4-0) threw seven strong innings for the win and the Gators bullpen did the rest. Michael Byrne earned his 13th save, leaving two men in scoring position in the 8th inning.
LSU's Ma'Khail Hilliard (9-5) was the losing pitcher. The freshman throwing on four days rest went 4.2 innings giving up four runs. A three-run third inning by Florida tied the game.
The Tigers got a great outing out of the bullpen from Cam Sanders, who pitched 3.1 innings of shutout baseball. The Thibodaux native struck out four and gave up just one hit to lower his ERA to 6.59.
The loss sends LSU in a loser's bracket game versus at 12:30 versus the loser of the South Carolina-Arkansas game.
