Despite striking out 14 times, UL-Lafayette mustered enough offense to beat LSU 4-3 in 10 innings. Jonathan Windham's soft liner into center field for only his second hit of the season drove home the winning run.
The win snapped LSU's five game winning streak over their I-10 rivals.
LSU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Beau Jordan RBI single.
The score remained 1-0 until the Cajuns laid down three consecutive bunts in the 8th inning and it helped spark a three-run rally, which gave the Cajuns a 3-1 lead.
A Hunter Kaslus bunt drove in two runs. It was a perfectly executed bunt with runners at 2nd and 3rd base. LSU pitcher Nick Bush fielded the bunt and tried to get the hitter out at first, but that allowed Daniel Lahare to score from second base.
LSU tied game with two outs and two strikes in the bottom of the 9th inning when pinch hitter Austin Bain hit a laser over the right fielder's head to score two runs.
But Bain ended up getting the loss as he gave up the winning run in the 10th innning.
AJ Labas started for LSU and pitched three shutout innings. He struck out the side with the bases loaded in the 2nd inning.
LSU is now 9-5 and they'll begin a three-game series against Hawaii on Friday.
