LSU is ranked sixth in the AP preseason poll which was released today. Tiger Rag Magazine Editor James Moran says the ranking matches the hype that surrounds this team.
“They have a ton of stars on defense, they got a returning quarterback, they have a lot of talent at receiver and running back, and they are putting in a new offense,” said Moran.
Moran says it remains to be seen if LSU can live up to its ranking, but based on what you see on paper, the Tigers are one of the best teams in the country.
“Based on everything that we have available to us, what they did last year, who they brought back, the recruiting class they brought in, coaching changes they made, this is set up to be a top ten team,” said Moran.
Last year there were projections LSU would win as few as six games, but they exceeded expectations by winning 10 games despite a difficult schedule. Moran says five teams on LSU’s 2019 schedule are ranked among the top 16 teams in AP’s preseason poll.
“It’s not really that much easier besides some kind of swing games being at home instead on the road, LSU is considered to be a top ten team, so LSU is projected to win 10 of those games instead of six,” said Moran.
LSU’s season opener is August 31st at home against Georgia Southern.
