Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and 10 Louisiana chefs are in New York City to prepare the Bayou State’s world-class food and give the Big Apple a taste of what we have to offer. Nungesser says they hope to woo people with our culture and encourage them to take their next vacation to Louisiana.
“Well we have a big event where we’re going to do all the cooking and talk about all the great festivals we have in Louisiana and the great things to do.”
Chefs like Cory Bahr, Bonnie Breaux and Jay Ducote are joining the Lt. Governor on this trip. Nungesser says 60 interviews will be conducted with the chefs to talk about all things Louisiana, as they are from every corner of the state.
“So when people do visit here, everyone knows about New Orleans, but this will help us bring that new flavor of all the great things to do and eat in Louisiana.”
This trip is a marketing and communications effort in part of the Louisiana Culinary Campaign. Nungesser hopes to link bloggers and writers with Louisiana chefs to show our unique heritage and food. He says many people with the Office of Tourism are along for the ride.
“So they’ll get to bring their special flavor and really talk one on one with those people who will be blogging and writing about Louisiana and the things to do in their hometown.”
