The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says the man accused of killing a state trooper near Lake Charles could be connected to another murder. Trooper Steven Vincent was assisting 54-year-old Kevin Daigle with a truck he'd driven into a ditch when the suspect shot him in the head.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso says they went to the vehicle owner's Moss Bluff home after getting a call that he hadn't shown up for work Monday.

"When we were on our way to that location, state police were interviewing Mr. Daigle and it led investigators to believe there was an altercation at this house," said Mancuso.

Mancuso says deputies forced their way into the house and did find a male victim who they believe Daigle had been living with. He says they suspect foul play and the case is being investigated as a homicide.

"It's obviously presumed that Mr. Daigle is involved in this and yes we're going to presume that," said Mancuso.

He says there is evidence to suggest that Daigle was living at the Moss Bluff residence.

"Maybe not permanently, but he was at least staying with him," said Mancuso.
