LSU is selling old lockers from Tiger Stadium in a fundraising effort. The Jeff Boss Locker Room is in the process of a complete renovation and the old lockers from 1996- 2013 are being sold. LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette says this is a rare opportunity for fans.
"We first offered it to former players to give them an opportunity to buy a locker that they had while they were here, wearing LSU purple and gold. We still have plenty left over and now it's an opportunity for fans to get really a unique treasure," Bonnette said.
Bonnette says the lockers sold will come with a certificate of authenticity as well as a copy of the original plans to see where the locker was located. He says the cost is about 4-thousand dollars for a locker but an additional 230 dollars if you want it refurbished to the original condition.
"They are very well done. They've got the tiger head that's on the side of the football helmet," Bonnette said.
Bonnette says each locker has a serial number that will certify it is a collectible item. He says the money from the sale of these lockers will go back into the project of the Jeff Boss Locker Room renovation.
"It's a unique thing, something that might never happen again. We're hoping that our fans will take advantage of this and bring one of these items to their house," Bonnette said.
