ULM launches a campaign to try and get the Warhawk football team in the Advocare V100 Bowl in Shreveport. Athletic director Brian Wickstrom says digital billboards are up in the Monroe area, urging fans to call and email bowl officials and tell them they want the Warhawks in that bowl game for a second straight year.
"We want to show them by buying tickets, by emailing, by tweeting, by calling, of how interested they would be in coming back to Shreveport, if selected."
This year's Advocare V100 bowl game will be played on December 31st at Independence Stadium. A team from the ACC will be in the game and bowl officials have made it known they are interested in Notre Dame as possible opponent. Wickstorm says if the Fighting Irish are not available, he's hopeful the bowl will select ULM.
"If they can get Notre Dame, I can understand why they would do that. We are in a waiting game right now"
Wickstrom says officials with the Advocare V100 Bowl have told him that ULM is on their short-list, because they know Warhawk fans will help fill the stadium.
"We know we have 40,000 alumni and donors with a four-hour radius of Shreveport, a lot of those people turned out last year."
ULM lost to Ohio in last year's Advocate V100 Bowl game.
