LSU’s head football coach Ed Orgeron is helping spread the word about how flood victims can get federal assistance. The governor’s spokesperson Richard Carbo says Coach O said he wants to be as helpful as possible during the recovery process. The newly-minted head coach will be the voice of PSAs about the ongoing recovery efforts.

U.S. Senators Kennedy and Cassidy push for additional dollars for flood recovery

U.S. Senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy met with a Trump administration official this week about providing Louisiana an additional $2-billion in federal flood aid. Kennedy says they asked the director of the Office of Management and Budget, Mick Mulvaney, to include the $2 billion in a budget bill that needs to pass to keep the federal government running through September.

Feud continues between Gov Edwards, US Rep Graves

HUD has released $1.6 billion in flood recovery dollars to the state

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has granted Louisiana access to start dispensing $1.6 billion to flooded homeowners in federal aid. Deputy Chief of Staff for the Governor Julie Baxter Payer says this will finally allow the state to move forward with recovery plans.

US Rep Graves says he'll resign if federal government is holding up flood recovery

Flooded homeowners asked to fill out online survey for assistance

Starting Monday, flood impacted homeowners will be asked to fill out a survey to see if they qualify for federal assistance. The Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Julie Baxter Payer, says this is an important first step for homeowners who were affected by the March and August 2016 floods.

Gov Edwards blames politics for attacks during Congressional hearng

Governor John Bel Edwards believes partisan politics were behind the harsh questioning during a Congressional hearing examining the response to last year’s historic flooding. Republican lawmakers questioned why the state has yet to appropriate the $1.6 billion that Congress provided for flood recovery. In an interview on the Jim Engster Show, Edwards said the holdup is on the federal level.

Online campaign replacing household items lost in flood

The online donation campaign CrowdRelief is working to replace items families lost in the floods. Founder Rob Gaudet says all the household items that were piled up on the side of the road after the flood need to be replaced.

Gov Edwards to meet with President Trump about flood and tornado recovery

While many Louisianans will be celebrating Mardi Gras this weekend, Governor John Bel Edwards is heading to Washington to discuss more federal assistance for flood recovery and the recent tornadoes in south Louisiana. The governor’s Communications Director Richard Carbo says Edwards will meet with the acting FEMA Administrator today to discuss recovery for tornado victims.

HUD approves state's plan for spending $438M in federal flood aid

The US Department of Housing and Urban Development has approved the state’s plan for spending the first $438 million approved for Louisiana flood recovery. The governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff Julie Baxter Payer says the next step is for HUD to do grant agreements and open a line of credit for the state.
