AAA: Accidents Involving Teen Drivers with Teen Passengers See 51% Increase in Fatalities

New research from the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety shows that when teen drivers have teen passengers, the fatality rate for all people involved in a crash increases by 51 percent. AAA spokesperson Don Redman says it may take some by surprise how much of a distraction teen passengers are compared to other possible distractions behind the wheel.

Report: Gasoline demand nearing all time high causes higher prices at the pump

A government report says gasoline demand is nearing an all-time high and that’s causing prices to rise at the pump.

The current statewide average for a gallon of regular fuel is $2.61, the most expensive August price since 2014. AAA Fuel Analyst Don Redman says the price of crude oil is also playing a hand in the price increase.

 AAA estimates this Fourth of July holiday will see a record-breaking 47 million Americans travel 50 miles or more. This is a five percent increase over last year and AAA Spokesperson Don Redman says the growing economy is propelling families to travel.

Analyst says summer gas prices may be on the way down

The summer driving season is underway, but gas prices continue to hold steady. The statewide average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.67, which is a just a few pennies higher than a week ago. AAA fuel analyst Don Redman says there’s a chance the price at the pump can actually come down soon.

Despite higher gas prices, AAA estimates nearly 42-million Americans will travel this Memorial Day weekend. That’s a five-percent increase from last year and the highest number of travelers in more than a dozen years. AAA Spokesman Don Redman says about 37-million travelers will hit the road.

AAA: Gas prices at the pump up seven-cents in the last week

Louisiana motorists have seen a seven-cent increase in gasoline prices over the last week. Triple A’s fuel analyst Don Redman says the average price for regular gasoline is $2.39 a gallon. Redman says we usually see prices go up at this time of the year, plus supplies are down.

The return of $3.00 a gallon for gas may not be far off

Louisiana drivers are continuing to see higher gas prices and a return to three-dollars a gallon may not be too far off. The current average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.43, up from six cents a week ago. Triple A fuel analyst Don Redman says oil is trading at around 64-dollars a barrel. He says demand is driving the oil market.

Gas prices could go up in 2018

Gas prices are on the rise at a time of the year when prices traditionally go down. Louisiana drivers are paying 2.36 a gallon for regular gasoline, while a month ago, prices were at 2.21 a gallon. Triple A fuel analyst Don Redman says high gas prices at the start of the new year may lead to an increase in prices through 2018.

Record number of Americans traveling this holiday season

This will be a record setting holiday for traveling this Christmas. Over 103 million Americans will take to the roads and skies between now and the first of the year. Part of the reason behind the surge in travelers is low gas prices. Triple-A’s Don Redman says prices are higher than they were last year, but travelers feel more confident about the economy.
