Bill would provide free HIV testing for people leaving prison

A bill headed to the House floor would provide free HIV tests for inmates being released from prison. Natchitoches Representative Kenny Cox says before a person leaves a state jail for parole, they should be tested and if needed, treated as a way to help prevent AIDS from spreading further.

Baton Rouge moves down 1 spot to number two in AIDS cases

According to new data released by the Centers for Disease Control, Baton Rouge has moved from #1 to #2 in new rankings of AIDS cases. The Capital City dropped behind Atlanta after having the highest rate in the country according to the CDC.

Man being held on $20,000 bond for infecting a woman with AIDS on purpose

The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's office says a man is under arrest for intentionally exposing a woman to the AIDS virus. Spokeswoman Captain Dawn Foret says they received a complaint from the victim back in October who had recently found out that she had contracted the HIV virus.
