Reward offered for information on the killing of two black bears in St. Mary Parish

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement agents are offering a $5,500 reward for information about who killed two black bears in St. Mary Parish in the Atchafalaya Basin. It is believed they were killed between February 2nd and 4th. LDWF spokesman Adam Einck says both bears were discovered in a fairly remote area.

Three Cenla restaurants caught selling swai fish as catfish

Three Central Louisiana restaurants have been caught selling swai fish, passing it off as catfish. The managers at Rosie Joe’s and Debarge’s Crawfish in Alexandria and Crazy Cajun in Tioga were cited last month after Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries were tipped off. Man arrested for allegedly killing black bear

LDWF agents help Texas authorities with Harvey response

Gueydan man pleads guilty to shooting whooping crane in federal court

State Officials are extremely serious about crimes when it comes to enforcing wildlife laws, and now a man is going to spend 45 days in federal prison and pay a $2500 fine for killing a whooping crane in 2014. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries spokesman Adam Einck says the accused is 21-year-old Lane Thibodeaux of Vermilion Parish.

Father, son cited for killing Louisiana black bear

A father and son have been cited for killing a Louisiana black bear in Iberia Parish. Adam Einck with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says agents found the bear shot to death in November of 2015. He says the bullet was pulled from the bear during a necropsy.

Three Jennings men cited for allegedly hunting alligators from truck bed

Three Jennings men have been arrested for allegedly shooting alligators from the bed of a pickup truck. Adam Einck with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says 24-year-old Rhett Guidry, 19-year-old Dodie Bouley, and 23-year-old Kyle Thibodaux were cited for illegally hunting gators, among other things.

Girl Scout troop rescued by LDWF agents in Natchitoches Parish

A Texas Girl Scout group is safe after being rescued from Saline Bayou In Natchitoches Parish. Adam Einck with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says they received an alert from friends and family around 9pm on May 28th that a kayaking group of three adults and six juveniles had never returned to their destination.

Grand Chenier men sentenced after illegally collecting over 500 alligator eggs

Two men from Cameron Parish must pay hundreds of dollars in fines for stealing over 500 alligator eggs. That’s according to Adam Einck with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, who says 48-year-old Paul Canik and 25-year-old Christopher Trahan, both are from Grand Chenier, have been sentenced by a state judge for what they did in July of 2015.

Wildlife agent shot five times to be transferred to rehab facility

The state wildlife agent who was shot five times is scheduled to be released from the hospital Thursday. 25-year-old Tyler Wheeler of Monroe was shot in the temple, jaw, shoulder, arm and back while questioning a motorist last month in Morehouse Parish. LDWF Spokesperson Adam Einck says Wheeler is expected to make a full recovery.
