There’s a lot of talk of wintery mix tomorrow morning and Alek Krautmann with the National Weather Service in Slidell says the Florida Parishes are in for some rain tonight transitioning into sleet and possibly snow by morning. He says we’ll see temperatures in the low 40s throughout today.

Today is the final day of what was a hot and wet summer. Alek Krautmann with the National Weather Service in Slidell says it goes down as one of the warmest summers on record for several Louisiana cities and in New Orleans it was the warmest summer on record since 1947. He says a very warm Gulf of Mexico is to blame.

Tropical Depression 9 in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to become Tropical Storm Hermine by this evening. Alek Krautmann with the National Weather Service says right now the area of low pressure is not expected to have an impact on Louisiana, expect for high tides along the coast in southeast Louisiana.

A cold front moving across Louisiana is bringing the possibility of severe weather and even the chance of snow for some areas of the state. Alek Krautmann, with the National Weather Service in Slidell, says the chance of severe weather in south Louisiana will begin this afternoon and continue into the night.
