A LaFourche Parish Council member was arrested after violating a protective order filed against him by another councilman for the second time in four months. 51-year-old James Bourgeois Sr. had been ordered to stay clear of Jerry LaFont after a fist fight broke out at a council meeting back in April.

A high school student was arrested and two other elementary school students have been suspended from their respective schools in LaFourche Parish for alleged threats. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Lt. Brennan Matherne says a 15-year-old male threatened to kill South Lafourche High School teacher.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says a Covington woman has been arrested after lying that an NFL referee was physically abusing her. Lt. Brennan Matherne says 49-year-old Sandra Brooks filed reports with the sheriff’s office in June stating her live in boyfriend, 57-year-old Carl Johnson Sr. of Thibodaux, was hitting her. He says Brooks sent police audio recordings of the alleged incidents.

A two-year-old Lockport boy is another child who has died in a rash of drownings around Louisiana. Lt. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says around noon on the 4th of July deputies responded to a call of a child found unresponsive in the bottom of a pool. He says Kevin Cortez III was last seen playing with other kids inside the home.

Lafourche Parish is gearing up for Tropical Storm Cindy that is set to hammer southeast Louisiana with rain. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says the parish is continuing to pump down drainage canals and sandbags are available at all parish field office locations.

The search is over for a south Louisiana man accused of living in his ex-girlfriend’s attic, as 21-year-old Taylor Broussard is behind bars. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says the investigation began in Larose after a woman reported her ex had stolen her vehicle after brandishing a knife. He says state troopers located the suspect Wednesday.

Authorities in Lafourche Parish are looking for a man who is facing several charges amid allegations including living in the attic of his ex-girlfriend for a period of time while stalking her. Sheriff's Office spokesman, Lt. Brennan Matherne, says cops responded to the home in reference to a disturbance involving 21-year-old Taylor Broussard.

Authorities have made an arrest in the case of a 64-year-old man who was murdered at his home in Galliano. Brennan Matherne with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office says 25-year-old Cameron Sands of Golden Meadow frequently visited the victim, Wayne Matherne. He says the two were friendly acquaintances, but Friday they got into a verbal altercation that turned violent.

The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office announces two high school students have been charged for wearing a clown mask while riding around school. Spokesman Brennan Matherne says the suspects are both 17 and from Raceland. They are identified as Jordan Boudreaux and Taylor Defelice of Central Lafourche High School.

14 deputies from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office traveled to Dallas to deliver donation checks to two foundations to help the families of the fallen officers who lost their lives in the July 7th attack on police. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Brennan Matherne says they organized with all the law enforcement agencies in Lafourche Parish and raised over $50,000 on July 16th.
