Joe McKnight shooter pleads not guilty

The 55-year-old man accused of killing former-NFL player Joe McKnight entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of second-degree murder today. Ronald Gasser remains in the Jefferson Parish jail and faces life in prison if convicted.

Legal analyst Chick Foret says this is the first step in the criminal prosecution and we'll have to wait on a trial date.

Jury selection in Cardell Hayes case underway

The jury selection in the trial of Cardell Hayes, the man accused of killing Former Saints defensive end Will Smith, begins today. Supreme Court will not hear Ray Nagin's appeal

The US Supreme Court has declined to hear former-New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin’s appeal of his 2014 public corruption conviction. Legal analyst Chick Foret says this means Nagin will have to serve out the remaining 8 years of his 10 year sentence, because there is no other court that can hear his appeal.

32-year-old Margaret Sanchez has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the 2012 death and dismemberment of the former Bourbon Street dancer Jaren Lockhart. She also pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in a Jefferson Parish courtroom and was sentenced to 40 years.

Federal judge rejects Darren Sharper's plea bargain

A federal judge officially rejected Former Saints safety Darren Sharper’s plea bargain in the case where he allegedly drugged and raped multiple women.
