Louisianans who want to help with the Harvey relief efforts both in Texas and Louisiana can find ways to give at VolunteerLouisiana.gov. Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser says thousands have already signed up to give their time and resources to those in need.

Camp Minden begins burning volatile explosives

Today, Camp Minden officials will begin burning off volatile explosives that are stored in three bunkers at the Louisiana National Guard Facility in Webster Parish. Col. Ed Bush says 200,000 pounds of explosives are left of the 320,000 pounds that have been stored at Camp Minden since the company that was storing them improperly went out of business. He says they plan on burning one of the three bunkers today.

Agencies update public on destruction of explosives at Camp Minden

A town hall meeting will be held Thursday night to update the public on the ongoing effort to destroy the remaining 100 tons of deteriorating explosives at Camp Minden in Webster Parish. Last month, a storage bunker filled with M-6 propellant exploded, causing quite a stir.
