Colorado State Forecasters calling for slightly below-average Atlantic Hurricane Season

The hurricane forecast team at Colorado State is calling for a slightly below-average 2017 Hurricane Season. They are predicting 11 named storms, four hurricanes, two of those major. Lead Researcher Dr. Phil Klotzbach says the primary reasons are the predicted development of an El Nino in the Pacific Ocean, which typically breaks up storms in the Atlantic.

Colorado State forecast team still predicts a near normal hurricane season

The hurricane forecast team at Colorado State University continues to predict a near average Atlantic hurricane season. Researcher Dr. Phil Klotzbach says they’re expecting to see 10 named storms and four more hurricanes. But he says given how quiet the last three years have been, this season will seem a lot more active than usual.

CSU Hurricane Forecast team slightly increases number of named storms predicted this season

The Colorado State University forecast team has upped the number of anticipated tropical storms in 2016 by one. In June they called for 14 named storms, now they predict there will be 15. State Climatologist Barry Keim says the change is due to the fact that there are already 4 named storms on the books this year.

The Colorado State University hurricane forecast team has released their updated forecast for the 2015 hurricane season and it looks very much the same as their June forecast.  Researchers originally predicted eight named storms with three hurricanes and one major hurricane.

Here on this first day of the 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Season, the Colorado State University forecast team continues to predict activity will be well-below average. Report lead author Dr. Phil Klotzbach says they call for eight named storms, three hurricanes and one major hurricane.

CSU: 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season remains below-average

Colorado State University researchers continue to predict a below average 2014 Atlantic Hurricane season. CSU Report Author Dr. William Gray says they are now calling for a total of 10 named storms with four becoming hurricanes and one to reach major hurricane strength.

Colorado State hurricane forecast team raises its storm prediction slightly

The Colorado State University forecast team is now calling for 10 named storms, including four hurricanes, to form during the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane season. That's a slight increase from the prediction of 9 storms in April. Phil Klotzbach is the lead author of the CSU hurricane report.
