A new survey from BlackFriday.com shows Louisiana shoppers actually prefer buying online for Cyber Monday rather than fighting the crowds on Friday. But Site Retail Expert Carson Yarbrough says over 60% of consumers in the Bayou State still plan to catch some deals in stores this Black Friday.

Today is Cyber Monday, a day where retailers promote huge online sales. The annual online shopping spree celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. LSU Marketing Professor Dan Rice says Cyber Monday shopping is a growing trend.

Monday is designated as Cyber Monday; a day to make your online holiday purchases, but state officials remind you those purchases are not tax-free. Louisiana Department of Revenue spokesman Byron Henderson says some websites will add the 8% applicable state tax to your purchases, but a greater number still do not. "They're allowed to not charge sales tax because they do not have a physical location in the state of Louisiana, but it DOESN'T mean the tax does not apply to that purchase."
