Baton Rouge Police say a 38-year-old man has been charged with cruelty to a juvenile after allegedly beating his son with a belt at his elementary school for getting suspended. Sgt. Don Coppola says Edward Humphrey dropped the child off at his mother’s workplace when they received a call from the 11-year-old boy’s mother when he was being treated in an ambulance for his injuries.

Baton Rouge Police have arrested a man in the 2014 killing of West St. John High School coach Juan Joseph. Sgt. Don Coppola says they had originally booked another man for the murder, but those charges were later dropped after the DA's office said the shooter was misidentified. Coppola says now Jamarcus Goodman is charged with second degree murder.

Former Saints and LSU star Tracy Porter has been arrested on drug and domestic battery charges. Sgt. Don Coppola with the Baton Rouge Police Department says on October 5th, the victim alleged she visited Porter to get her keys back from him, then the two became involved in an argument that got physical.

Teenager arrested in connection to baby's death in Baton Rouge

A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection to the death of an 8-month-old girl in Baton Rouge. Sgt. Don Coppola says over the weekend, authorities responded to a call reporting an unresponsive baby. He says their investigation determined the child was left in the care of the mother’s boyfriend, Vincent Cummings.

A Baton Rouge man considered a person of interest in the shooting deaths of two black men last week, has bonded out of jail. 23-year-old Kenneth Gleason was arrested over the weekend on drug charges. Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Coppola says Gleason has yet to be cleared of the homicides.

A Baton Rouge father has been arrested after allegedly killing his 4-year-old while play fighting. Baton Rouge Police Sgt. Don Coppola says on November 30th, Kristopher Carter brought his unconscious son, Marcel, to the hospital. He says Carter transported the child to the hospital himself, hours after the incident because his son did not want to go.

A Baton Rouge woman is behind bars after she attacked her husband with a turkey. Sgt. Don Coppola with Baton Rouge Police says a juvenile male called police on Thanksgiving Day to report that his parents were fighting. He says the situation escalated when 32-year-old Helen Jackson pulled a knife on her husband.

BRPD looking to make another arrest in fatal shooting of Southern Univ. students

Baton Rouge Police are looking to arrest another gunman in the shooting that killed two Southern University students and injured another man. 22-year-old Ernest Felton has already been arrested and charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a weapon. Sgt. Don Coppola says investigators are working to determine who fired the gun killing the two women.
