GasBuddy: Prices at the pump trickling down, downward momentum expected to continue

It’s been a month since Hurricane Harvey made landfall in Texas, knocking out nearly 30% of the nation’s refining capacity, but motorists are now starting to see consistent declines in gas prices. That’s according to Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst at GasBuddy.

GasBuddy projects highest gas prices in three years for 2017

Drivers can expect to pay more at the pump this year, as GasBuddy forecasts the highest prices in three years. Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski says right now the statewide average is $2.16, which is about 40-cents higher than a year ago, and he expects to see a spike later this winter and spring.

Gas prices on the rise as demand increases

Prices at the pump continue to rise. Gregg Laskowski with GasBuddy.com says the national average for a gallon of gas is up three cents since last week, and Louisiana is seeing similar price increases, as the statewide average is nearing two-dollars for a gallon of regular gasoline.

Gas prices continue to fall all across Louisiana.  GasBuddy-dot-com reports that the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has dropped six cents in the past week.

Statewide average price for gas drops below $2 a gallon

According to numbers from Gasbuddy-dot-com, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has officially dropped below two-dollars a gallon.  Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski says the average price has fallen to $1.99 a gallon.

Memorial Day weekend gas prices lowest since 2009

As motorists begin hitting the road for the Memorial Day weekend, Gasbuddy-dot-com says they'll see the lowest gas prices since 2009.  Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski says the current average price for a gallon of regular gasoline in Louisiana is $2.45 a gallon.

Gas prices rise in Louisiana for second straight week

Could gas prices drop below $2 a gallon?

Analysts are reporting there's a chance gas prices could drop below $2 a gallon in Louisiana.  Gasbuddy-dot-com's Gregg Laskoski says, in light of recent events, he could see some station's price dropping below $2, but is skeptical that the statewide average will drop that low.
