NOAA ups its projected storm total for this season

NOAA has increased its projected total of named storms for this hurricane season. In May, government forecasters predicted 11 to 17 named storms, now they believe we'll see anywhere from 14 to 19 storms. NOAA lead hurricane season forecaster Gerry Bell.

Wednesday marks end of 2016 hurricane season -- the most active in 4 years

Today is the last day of the 2016 Atlantic Hurricane Season which was the first one considered “above-normal” for the first time since 2012. This year, there were 15 named storms, including 7 hurricanes – 3 of which were major.

NOAA releases updated Atlantic hurricane season forecast: Strongest since 2012

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released an updated Atlantic hurricane season outlook, predicting this season is still expected to be the strongest since 2012. NOAA’s Lead Seasonal Hurricane Forecaster Dr. Gerry Bell says it will be stronger than what they first predicted in May. And there is a now a 70% chance that.

NOAA announces updated Atlantic hurricane season outlook

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center updated 2015 Atlantic Hurricane Outlook is now calling for a 90% chance of a below-normal season. NOAA's lead seasonal hurricane forecaster, Gerry Bell, says a below normal-season is now even more likely than predicted in May when it was at 70%.

NOAA calling for increased chance of below-normal Atlantic hurricane season

Forecasters with NOAA's Climate Prediction Center have updated their forecast for the 2014 Atlantic Hurricane Season and now say there is an increased chance it will be below-normal. Lead seasonal forecaster Gerry Bell says the outlook issued today calls for a 70% chance of a below normal season.

NOAA predicts average to below average hurricane season

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a near-normal to below-normal Atlantic Hurricane Season this year.  NOAA's lead seasonal hurricane forecaster, Dr. Gerry Bell says they expect 8-13 named storms, 3-6 hurricanes, and 1-2 major hurricanes.
