Attorney General Jeff Landry says “there is no doubt if I run I’ll beat John Bel Edwards, and you can tell him that.” That’s from an interview with USA Today Network's Greg Hilburn, where the AG seemed to throw down the gauntlet and do everything shy of outright saying he’s running for governor in 2019. Qualifying for next year's governor's race is 13 months away, so will we see Republicans who plan to challenge Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards announce their candidacy soon? There's been some buzz of late about the possibility of Congressman Ralph Abraham of Richland Parish running for governor in 2019. He would join other potential GOP candidates going up against Democratic Governor John Bel Edwards such as US Senator John Kennedy, AG Jeff Landry and Congressman Garret Graves.
