A recent survey found that 1 in 3 Americans suffers from “festive burnout” due to the holidays being a stressful time. Even though it’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, LSU Health New Orleans clinical psychologist Dr. Michelle Moore said several factors can contribute to making season not so jolly, so early.

Food banks are seeing empty shelves as the holidays are approaching. President and CEO of the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank Mike Manning said the nation responding to areas hardest hit by natural disasters are having a negative impact of the food bank’s ability to fill the shelves with food.

The National Retail Federation is expecting retailers to see healthy sales gains this holiday season. Spokesperson Kathy Grannis says sales are expected to increase about 3.7% overall in November and December, which is a slight decline from what we saw last year. She says the reason growth isn’t as much in 2015 is likely the direction of the economy.
