State Police investigate fatal officer involved shooting in Houma

A man is dead following an officer involved shooting in Houma on Tuesday night. State Trooper Jesse Lagrange says the Houma Police Department was involved in an incident with a barricaded subject when the shooting occurred.

A Houma man is facing animal cruelty charges after he allegedly shot and killed his neighbor’s pit bull. Sgt. Travis Theriot says 60-year-old Karl Kohman shot the 2-year-old dog after the canine bit his son.

The Houma Police Department says a mother is charged with child desertion after her baby was found inside a locked car that was parked at Rouses around noon yesterday. Chief Todd Duplantis says a passerby is the one who spotted the 21-month-old and called the cops.

Galliano man on his way home from drug court arrested for DWI and child endangerment

The Houma Police Department says a man from Galliano is sitting in the Terrebonne Parish Jail for DWI and child endangerment after he was caught driving drunk with his 8 year old daughter in the car. Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis says officers responded to a gas station late Tuesday night in reference to an intoxicated person.

Arrests made in November beating of disabled man

The Houma Police Department says two arrests have been made in the  beating and robbery of a disabled man walking home from work last month. Chief Todd Duplantis says they caught the November 11th crime being committed on a surveillance camera showing two suspects beating the victim, tazing him in the face, then taking his cell phone and wallet.

Houma PD seeking 17-year-old who may have been involved in fatal shooting

Houma police are searching for a 17-year-old who may have fatally shot a Mississippi man in an apparent robbery. Police Chief Todd Duplantis says 66-year-old Connely Duplantis was visiting relatives when he was gunned down while walking to his car. The police chief says after interviewing suspects and witnesses, Leron Calloway, is wanted for questioning.

Caught on video: Disabled man badly beaten/robbed

The Houma Police Department is looking for two men who were caught on video viciously attacking and robbing a disabled 26 year old man. Chief Todd Duplantis says the victim reported he was walking home late at night when he was beat up and robbed of his cell and wallet by two white males driving a light colored Ford Explorer.

An alleged drunk driver crashes into a Subway sandwich shop

Police say a drunk driver crashed her vehicle into a Subway sandwich shop in Houma this morning. Police Chief Todd Duplantis says just before four o' clock, a 30-year-old woman driving a 2008 Ford Expedition left the roadway and first collided with a utility pole. 

"Knocking the pole down, cross the roadway, and then the vehicle collided into the Subway, causing moderate to severe damage to the Subway."

Child drowns in swimming pool before his birthday party

The Houma Police Department says a 2 year old little boy is dead after he drowned in a swimming pool the day before his birthday party. Chief Todd Duplantis says the incident happened around 5pm Saturday evening.
