BRPD Officer who was shot leaves hospital

The Baton Rouge police officer shot by a man described as mentally ill left the hospital today. Doctors say he should fully recover. Cpl. Shane Totty was admitted Sunday night after sustaining a gunshot wound from Eugene Thomas Jr. Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says the department is thrilled Totty is home.
"He actually was shot in the face.  Had a bullet travel through the side of his face.  He's very fortunate to be here and we're just thankful everything worked out."

The principal wanted by Baton Rouge police after allegedly locking a 5-year-old in a closet has turned himself in to authorities. Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says 31-year-old Shafeeq Deen has been charged with cruelty to a juvenile and false imprisonment.

BRPD make arrest in fatal armed robbery of truck driver

Baton Rouge Police have made an arrest in the fatal armed robbery that cost a Tennessee truck driver his life. Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says they identified the suspect, 18-year-old Landry Carter, from his involvement in other robberies.

The state Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control suspends the license of Reggie’s Bar near the LSU campus following a sting operation by Baton Rouge Police. Sgt. Just days before graduation, a McKinley High School senior was fatally shot, and authorities are looking for the gunman. Cpl. Search is on for a gunman who fatally shot a 27-year-old mother in her doorway

A 27-year-old mother was shot multiple times, while answering the door of her home in Scotlandville last night, according to the Baton Rouge Police Department. Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says Robyn Hale was transported to a local hospital, where she died overnight. He says Hale was not home alone.

An arrest has been made in a brutal 2015 double slaying in Baton Rouge that claimed the lives of two young women from Texas. BRPD Sgt. L’Jean McKneely says 26-year-old Jonathan Robertson was in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on an unrelated attempted robbery charge. He says while Robertson was incarcerated, they were able to secure the weapon he had at the time of his arrest.

An infant is in critical condition and a mother is facing charges following an accidental shooting in a vehicle. Baton Rouge Police Cpl. L’Jean McKneely says 23-year-old Crystal Kinchen of Baton Rouge left two small children unattended in a parked car with a handgun.
