St. Tammany Coroner rules the July death of fire chief's wife a homicide

The St. Tammany Parish Coroner has ruled the death of the fire chief’s wife in July, as a homicide. The body of Nanette Krentel, wife of Fire District 12 Chief Stephen Krentel, was discovered in the rubble of the couple’s home which had burned to the ground on July 14th. Coroner Charles Preston said it was determined from the start Mrs. Krentel died from a gunshot wound.

Woman behind LSU FACES laboratory retiring after 30 years

The woman who has assisted law enforcement locally and nationally in identifying human remains, Mary Manhein, announces she is retiring from the LSU FACES Laboratory after more than 30 years. Also known as "The Bone Lady," Manhein has consulted on hundreds of forensic cases including mass disasters.
