Natchitoches announces plans to improve Riverfront

Plans have been unveiled for a Riverfront Improvement Project in Natchitoches. Mayor Lee Posey says the project will update some infrastructure along the river and improve handicap accessibility.

Christmas lights in Natchitoches officially light up Saturday

The City of Natchitoches officially kicks off their Christmas Festival season tomorrow with its "Turn on the Holidays" event. Entertainment, shopping and food vendors will be showcased throughout the day, then that evening, hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights will illuminate the Natchitoches Historic Landmark District.

Natchitoches Mayor bans Confederate flag from Christmas parade

Natchitoches Mayor Lee Posey has banned the Confederate battle flag from their annual Christmas Parade. The Sons of Confederate Veterans have had a float in the parade for more than 20 years, but decided not to partake this year because of the ban. Northwestern State University Professor Holly Stave says she understands some people want to honor their families, but agrees with Mayor Posey’s decision.

Northwestern State University president to retire

Northwestern State University President Randy Webb announced today he will retire later in the year. Natchitoches Mayor Lee Posey says Dr. Webb has been president of the University since 1996 and will be greatly missed.
