Livingston Parish students and teachers are looking forward to a year of normalcy as they begin classes today just days ahead of the one year anniversary of the August flood. School superintendent Rick Wentzel says crews worked extensively on 8 flood damaged campuses throughout the summer.

Almost 95%of Livingston parish students showed up for the first day back to class on September 12 after the historic flood. Livingston School Superintendent Rick Wentzel says more than 24,000 students returned to school last week. He says they were pleasantly surprised at the turnout.

Students in Livingston Parish finally return to school today after being out for almost a month because of the historic flooding. Parish School Superintendent Rick Wentzel says going back to school gives these kids a sense of normalcy that’s been missing for too long. He says this also helps parents relax a little more knowing their children are safe and back to learning.
