Hundreds of new high tech jobs for Lafayette

CGI, an international tech company, has announced a big expansion, bringing 400 new jobs to the Lafayette area as part of its IT Center of Excellence. Another Lafayette Parish site will add an additional 100 jobs, bringing the company’s total to 900 employees in Acadiana.

Western Global Airlines to open Shreveport facility; job growth expected

Western Global Airlines will invest 3 million dollars in a new Shreveport facility, which could lead to 170 direct jobs. Louisiana Economic Development estimates an additional 308 new jobs will be created by the facility run by the Florida based company. Secretary Don Pierson says they’ll take over the former Continental Express Jet hangar.

Louisiana Economic Development is urging businesses impacted by the historic flooding to apply for any financial assistance. LED Secretary Don Pierson says more than 9,000 businesses were affected. He says the first thing small businesses need to do is to get in touch with FEMA.

'Site Selection' magazine ranks Louisiana third in the nation for the most new and expanded corporate facilities per-capita.  Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Stephen Moret  says this is the latest positive ranking the state has received in growing its economy.
