Chronic wasting disease in deer has been detected in Mississippi and Louisiana wildlife officials are concerned the fatal disease will end up in the Bayou State. A four-year-old buck was found dead of CWD near the Louisiana border.

$15,000 reward for information on whooping crane shooting

There is now a 15 thousand dollar reward for anyone giving information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the illegal shooting of two whooping cranes found on February 7th north of Roanoke in Jefferson Davis Parish.  Adam Einck of the Wildlife & Fisheries says the original reward was lower but....

The endangered Louisiana whooping crane was put into further danger with a tragic discovery in Jefferson Davis parish. Robert Barham, Secretary of the state's Wildlife & Fisheries department is saddened by the news that a whooping crane was shot dead and another was injured.
