Swamp pop legend G.G Shinn passes away at 78

Swamp pop legend and trumpet player G.G. Shinn has passed away after a long illness at his home in Monroe. Shinn was 78-years-old.
Louisiana Music Hall of Fame executive director Michael Shepherd says Shinn was one of the nicest people in show business and had a great voice.

Cajun music icon D.L. Menard dies at 85

The Cajun music community says goodbye to a legend, as D.L. Menard passed away at the age of 85. Executive Director of the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame, Mike Shepherd, says Menard was known as the Cajun Hank Williams. Menard even met the country music icon in 1951.

New Orleans music icon Allen Toussaint dies

The music community is in mourning today after the passing of New Orleans music icon Allen Toussaint. Toussaint was on tour in Europe when he reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack after a performance Monday in Madrid, Spain.  

Louisiana Music Hall of Fame President Mike Shepherd says Toussaint was not only a big international figure in music, but also a true gentleman.

Louisiana has 12 Grammy nominations in Sunday's Ceremony

The Bayou State can boast a part in at least 12 nominations in the 2014 Grammy Awards Ceremony which takes place in Los Angeles this Sunday. Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Executive Director Mike Shepherd believes many of these nods have a real shot at taking home the award.
