A 26-year-old Monroe Police Officer died in a traffic accident yesterday. Ayrian Williams was an LSU grad and New Orleans native who worked at the Southern Campus Police Department before taking a job with Monroe in November 2017. Police Chief Eugene Ellis says Williams was on the clock when the accident occurred.More

State Police say an officer with the Monroe Police Department died in a crash on Sunday. Trooper Michael Reichardt says 26-year-old Officer Christopher Beaudion was in his unit shortly before 3am on Sunday morning on South 2nd near Winnsboro Rod in Monroe.

Monroe Police Chief Quentin Holmes has announced he is going to retire from his post. In a joint news conference with Mayor Jamie Mayo, Holmes said he has been thinking about returning to teaching for quite some time. News outlets had reported that Mayo asked for a resignation which he says is 100% not true.

A 24-year-old Monroe woman is being evaluated at the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center after she kidnapped a newborn from St. Francis Hospital. Monroe Police Detective Chris Bates says Anquinisha Cummings entered a hospital room occupied by a woman and her 3-day-old infant, claiming that a mutual friend had sent her. Bates says after visiting for a couple of hours, the mother of the child went to the bathroom and came back to an empty room.

The Monroe Police Department says a mother allegedly shot and critically injured her son following a dispute. Sgt. Mark Johnson says the 69-year-old woman seems to have snapped during some type of confrontation with her 47-year-old son at the home they shared together around 2:30pm Monday.

The Monroe Police Department says a crazed woman is behind bars for allegedly running over and killing her boyfriend's father with a Yukon. Sgt. Mark Johnson says the suspect, 28-year-old Markeda Porter, and her boyfriend were sitting in the vehicle Sunday night and got into a heated argument over the woman's three year old child.

|The Monroe Police Department says an 18 year old is under arrest in the murder of his best friend that took place on January 18th. Sgt. Mark Johnson says the death of 18 year old Quintarius Brown was initially investigated as an accident, but there were some suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident...like a missing gun and conflicting witness reports.|

|An hours long standoff between police a prominent businessman in northeast Louisiana, who is accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting his wife, ended last night around 11pm. Monroe Police spokesperson Sgt Mark Johnson says they received a call around 7am Monday morning from a woman at a hospital who's married to Dean Hart Jr.|

The Monroe Police Department says a man is recovering at a local hospital after allegedly being stabbed by his wife who claims she was acting in self defense. Sgt Mark Johnson says they were called to the Windsor Inn Apartments in reference to a domestic disturbance around 11 last night.

Police in Monroe say a 10-year-old girl remains behind bars at the Green Oaks Detention Center for allegedly bringing a knife to school and threatening to use it on a teacher. Sgt. Mark Johnson says they were called out to Cypress Point Elementary by school officials.
