Two brothers are behind bars after a weekend shooting that left two victims dead in Lafourche Parish. Sheriff’s Detectives arrested 34-year-old Kerry Alexander and 28-year-old Jerrell Alexander, both of Raceland, on Saturday night. Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Brennan Matherne said the suspects entered the garage wearing all black clothing and camouflage masks.

Cameron Sterling, son of Alton Sterling, charged with first-degree rape

Baton Rouge Police say the 18-year-old son of Alton Sterling has been arrested and faces a charge of first-degree rape. Cameron Sterling is accused of taking a child into a bedroom, locking the door, then raping the 8-year-old boy he was babysitting last weekend. Sgt. L’Jean McKneely said a relative made contact with authorities.

Lafourche Humane Society president arrested on animal cruelty charges

After law enforcement made the discovery of more than a dozen horses that all appeared to be emaciated on her property in Lockport, the Lafourche Humane Society President, Pamela George and fellow property owner John Gautreaux, have been arrested and charged with animal cruelty. Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Lt. Brennan Matherne said the investigation began in early November.

West Monroe man facing charges of mutilating, disinterring the remains of his grandmother

The West Monroe Police Department have arrested a person of interest during the course of a suspicious death investigation. 31-year-old Shomari Clemons is facing charges of mutilating, disinterring the human remains of his grandmother. Sgt. CJ Beck says Clemons appears to have made cuts to one of the body’s arms.

Trooper Arrests Baton Rouge Man After Threatening Law Enforcement During Traffic Stop

State Police have arrested a Baton Rouge man after he threatened to kill troopers and other law enforcement officers during a traffic stop. 42-year-old Melvin Amar, Jr. was pulled over when he was observed driving a pickup truck with no tag and he was not wearing a seatbelt. Trooper Bryan Lee says during the course of the stop, Amar started making threats.

"At one point, he pointed his finger at the trooper, gesturing as if he had a gun and told the trooper that he would shoot him, making shooting gestures with his hand," said Lee.

Folk Polk Soldier Sentenced to Over 11 Years in Prison for Chemical Weapon Use

Former soldier Ryan Taylor of New Llano has been sentenced to over 11 years in prison for manufacturing and detonating a chemical weapon at a Fort Polk training area. US Attorney David Joseph says a device containing chlorine gas exploded in the Kisatchie National Forest in April 2017. He says two responding soldiers who inhaled the chlorine gas had their military careers end because of the damage to their bodies.
