All suspects in French Quarter robbery & beating now in custody

The New Orleans Police Department now has in custody all four suspects accused in the brutal attack and robbery in the French Quarter that was captured on a now-viral video. 21-year-old Dejuan Paul, and 18-year-old Joshua Simmons had surrendered previously.

NOPD arrests 25-year-old in crash that injures 28 parade goers

The New Orleans Police Department says 25-year-old Neilson Rizzuto was "heavily intoxicated" when he was speeding down North Carrollton towards City Park. Authorities say he struck two vehicles and then lost control of his pickup truck and plowed into a crowd injuring 28 people who were watching the Endymion Parade.

LA Tech working with NOPD to select new police officers

Louisiana Tech researchers are working with the New Orleans Police Department to help them select new officers who will best fit the NOPD’s new community based approach to law enforcement. Louisiana Tech Professor Frank Igou says NOPD is looking for a particular type of officer as the department seeks to correct civil rights and misconduct issues that have occurred in the past.

Treasurer Kennedy says NOPD should implement Stop and Frisk program

State Treasurer John Kennedy proposes the implementation of the aggressive "stop, question and frisk" program in the New Orleans area as a way to curb crime in the city. He says the policy is perfectly legal and allows police officers to frisk a person for a weapon without probable cause.

NOPD Police Chief disgusted by sloppy police work in the arrest of suspected cop killer

The New Orleans Police Department has made another arrest in connection with the shooting death of Officer Daryle Holloway last month, and this time, it’s another cop. Travis Boys was initially arrested by Officer Wardell Johnson before the suspect is alleged to have shot and killed Holloway in a squad car while handcuffed. NOPD Chief Michael Harrison.

NOPD asking for public's help in Bourbon Street shooting investigation

The New Orleans Police Department says they're learning more and more about the suspects who are accused in the Bourbon Street shooting that injured 9 people - two critically. NOPD Chief Ronal Serpas says the shootout apparently stemmed from two young men who had gotten into an argument Sunday around 2am. He says they need the public's help.
