Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle has been named the director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. UL-Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross says this is the perfect job for Angelle, coming off a recent loss for Congress. He says Angelle is suited for the position under the Trump administration.

Analysts expect interesting GOP runoff in 3rd Congressional District

Political analysts are expecting an interesting Republican runoff in the 3rd Congressional District. Public Service Commissioner Scott Angelle will go up against Capt. Clay Higgins on December 10. UL-Lafayette political science professor Pearson Cross says it was surprising Angelle didn’t do better in the election, as he only led Higgins by three percentage points in the general election.

Analyst: Expects 3 competitive Congressional races

The Congressional races in Louisiana officially kick-off today with the start of qualifying. Candidates will sign-up at the Secretary of State’s office between today and Friday. Pollster Bernie Pinsonat predicts the third congressional district seat will be the most competitive with some big names and heavily funded candidates trying to make it into the runoff.

Scott Angelle leads poll in 3rd Congressional District race

A recent independent poll of 800 voters shows Republican Scott Angelle is leading in the 3rd Congressional District race as 39% of the respondents support the Public Service Commissioner. The Traflagar Group poll has Clay Higgins, who recently joined the race, at 18%. UL Lafayette Political Science Professor Pearson Cross the poll shows 24% are undecided.

LSU board pushes for Pistol Pete statue

LSU board if supervisors is taking steps that would pave the way for a statue of Pete Maravich to be erected on campus. An athletics policy currently blocks a statue of Pistol Pete, because he didn’t graduate. Former star LSU basketball player Collis Temple, who integrated the team, says the legacy of Maravich must be preserved.
