LSP: The arrest of an Alexandria man takes a large sum of drugs off the street

State Police say nearly two million dollars worth of drugs are off the streets of Central Louisiana as the result of the arrest of an Alexandria man. Trooper Scott Moreau says earlier this month detectives began investigating 37-year-old Derrick Felton for distribution of methamphetamine and he was taken into custody during a traffic stop.

Three people dead after fiery crash in Vernon Parish

Three people are dead after a fiery crash in Vernon Parish early this morning. State Trooper Scott Moreau says around 1:40 a.m. troopers responded to a crash on Highway 1146 near Rosepine. He says there were three people inside the 2009 Chevy Malibu when the driver apparently veered off the roadway and hit several trees.

Winter weather causing safety concerns

State officials are advising Louisiana residents to stay safe as winter weather moves through the state. State Trooper Scott Moreau says as freezing rain and sleet falls in many north and central Louisiana parishes, roadways are becoming more dangerous. He advises people not to drive if at all possible.

LSP reminds hunters not to park on the side of highways

Louisiana State Police is advising hunters to pay attention to where they leave their vehicles, or they could get a ticket. Master Trooper Scott Moreau says many hunters park their trucks along the tree line and when motorists see the vehicles on the side of the road, they often think someone needs help.

A Lake Charles woman, who was allegedly intoxicated with kids in the car, is behind bars following a fiery crash on Highway 165. State Trooper Scott Moreau says 29-year-old Kate Davis had four children in her vehicle when she veered off the road in Jefferson Davis parish just after midnight Sunday.

Teenager killed in crash that splits her car in half

An unrestrained 19-year-old was killed in a single vehicle crash after her vehicle was split in half in Catahoula Parish. State Police say a young girl was killed in Grant Parish after being involved in a high speed collision. Master Trooper Scott Moreau says, 26-year-old Kristopher Silk of Pollock, was speeding when he crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler going in the same direction on Hwy 165.

State Police releases sketch of individual involved in the injuring of a Trooper

State Police release the sketch of a person wanted in the injuring of a Trooper during a traffic stop in Rapides Parish on June 30th. Authorities say during the stop, the Trooper and driver engaged in an altercation and the officer was struck in the head with an unknown object by one of the passengers in the vehicle. LSP spokesperson Scott Moreau says based on a police composite sketch, the driver is a medium skin-toned black male.
