Southeastern Louisiana University students graduate with less debt than any other university in Louisiana, that according to a report from LendEDU. The Lions didn’t just top the state, they pulled in at 46th lowest debt load in the nation.

Southeastern Louisiana University has new scholarships available to attract high achieving students to the school. Senior Director of University Marketing Mike Rivault says SLU has always been ranked highly in terms of graduating students with low debt. He says they created this scholarship to applaud students who performed well in high school and will continue that in college.

Southeastern promises not to raise incoming freshmens' tuition if they promise to graduate in four years

Southeastern Louisiana University is issuing a promise to incoming freshmen not to raise their tuition, if they commit to completing their degree in four years. University President John Crain says they’re seeing students taking longer and longer to earn a bachelor’s degree, and the Southeastern Promise encourages students to graduate in four years.

SLU receives $10 million donation towards scholarships for women

Southeastern Louisiana University receives a $10 million bequest, the largest single donation in its history. SLU spokesperson Mike Rivault says Seth Ryan, a Class of 1953 graduate, became an anonymous donor 15 years ago. He says Ryan donated much of his estate to the university when he passed away several weeks ago.

SLU reduces costs and adds courses for summer semester

Southeastern Louisiana University revamps its offerings for the summer semester by lowering tuition cost and adding high demanded courses. Director of Marketing and Admissions Mike Rivault says they wanted to have a wider variety of classes available for current students and students home for the summer from other universities.

SLU urges Christmas tree donations to help stop shoreline erosion

Southeastern Louisiana University is urging people to donate their Christmas trees to help save the state’s coast rather than throwing them in the trash. Rob Moreau, manager of SLU’s Turtle Cove Environmental Research Station, says when you put recycled trees into the marsh it can help the shoreline in many ways.

LSU baseball seeks 1st SEC series win; SLU goes after 15th straight win

The 14th ranked LSU Baseball team looks for its first series win in SEC play this weekend as they visit Auburn for a three-game series that starts tonight. The Tigers are 2-and-4 in league play and have lost three of their last four overall. Sophomore right-hander Alex Lange will start tonight on the mound tonight for the Tigers.

Pennington/SLU partner to provide training to college students on overweight children

Lion Crazed City

The city of Hammond has gone Lion crazy and a pep rally is being held this morning in anticipation of the Lions' first playoff game on Saturday. The contest in Strawberry Stadium will be against SLU Southland Conference foe, Sam Houston State. University President Dr. John Crain says the excitement in the city is off the charts.
