Monroe-based CenturyLink is being relied upon to keep the lights on, and the broadcast rolling for this year’s Super Bowl. U.S. Bank Stadium is a new stadium built from the ground up with state-of-the-art technology, mostly by CenturyLink. Director of Smart Solutions Jesse Sullivan says it’s a project years in the making.

Philadelphia's Doug Pederson is the first person with Louisiana ties to serve as a head coach in the Super Bowl head coach. Pederson was the head coach at Calvary Baptist in Shreveport from 2004 to 2008, and also played quarterback at ULM. Former Calvary Baptist assistant coach Terry Slack says Pederson is a football savant.

NRG Stadium in Houston is hosting its second ever Super Bowl this weekend, so when next will it be New Orleans' turn to get the big game? Jay Cicero with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation says the Super Bowl is already awarded through 2021.

Louisiana Clydesdales will be in a Budweiser Super Bowl Commercial. Clay Harper of Pearl River owns the soon-to-be-famous horses. He says it all started when he got a call from a producer looking for Clydesdales near New Orleans for a commercial.

New Orleans is seeking to host the Super Bowl in 2019 and those who will present a bid to the NFL owners on Tuesday are already in Charlotte putting the finishing touches on their presentation. New Orleans competition to host the 2019 Super Bowl is Atlanta, Miami and Tampa Bay.

New Orleans has been invited to bid to host the 2019 and 2020 Super Bowls. The Big Easy last hosted the Super Bowl in 2013. Jay Cicero, President of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, says four other cities also received invitations.

A Tulane University study discovers that cities who have teams in the Super Bowl see a spike in flu deaths. Researcher Charles Stoecker, says based on county-level statistics, there was an 18-percent increase in flu deaths among those over the age of 65 in cities whose teams were in the Super Bowl that year. He says big games bring more people together.

Minneapolis has won the right to host Super Bowl 52 in 2018. The announcement was made Tuesday at the NFL Owners Meeting in Atlanta. The Twin Cities beat out Indianapolis and New Orleans for the honor.

|New York just hosted its first Super Bowl, so when will the big game return to New Orleans for a record 11th time? The Big Easy is a finalist to host the Super Bowl in 2018. Minneapolis and Indianapolis are the other finalists.
